Create a Configuration

Click Create configuration in the plugin menu to start the wizard. It asks a few important questions up front, then opens the full editor where you fine-tune every option.

Step 1 – Choose the product family

Pick the product family that matches what you sell – for example Signs & Panels for rigid boards and plaques, Banners or Stickers for flexible or adhesive products, or Letter signs if you configure neon or channel letters. The wizard then shows only the materials and setup options that fit that family.

This choice shapes the whole configuration. If you pick the wrong family, create a new configuration rather than trying to force unrelated products into the same setup.

Step 2 – Choose your materials

Select one or more materials you actually sell in this family – acrylic, aluminium, brass, eco friendly, and others depending on the product type you picked in step 1. You can tick several materials here if one configuration should cover more than one substrate; you will define how each one behaves in the editor afterward.

Step 3 – Choose the setup model

This step decides how customers build their sign. Direct Options (shown as Flexible in the wizard) is the straight path: shoppers pick size, shape, color, material, and extras one after another – the layout most shops use for standard panels and boards.

Preset Components (Structured) starts from predefined components or ready-made structures. Customers personalize those building blocks instead of assembling every option from scratch. The sidebar in the editor will look different after creation – fewer top-level menus, more work inside Components.

Step 4 – Name, describe, and link products

Give the configuration a clear name your team will recognize, add an optional description, and link every WooCommerce product that should open this customizer. The summary on the right recaps your earlier choices – product family, material, and setup model.

A product can only belong to one configuration at a time. If two products need different options, duplicate an existing setup or create a second configuration.

Review and open the editor

Before the configuration is created, a review screen shows your product family, material, setup model, and name. Here you also choose whether to start blank or include a starter template – a ready-made starting point with common sizes and options already filled in. Starter templates are optional; you can always build everything manually in the editor.

Click Create configuration to open the full editor. From there, use the Configurator Menu on the left to set up Core Setup, Editor Setup, Additional Options, Libraries, and Settings – described in the next section.
